World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade of an item allows players to boost the gear rating of an item by up to 700 points and add a final bonus. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you bring them to the kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded for their unique stats (like a perfectly made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) and others, like weapons, do not change significantly after an upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit chance and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons come with a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. Some weapons also come with an unaffected bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are equipped in a group. This bonus can sometimes exceed the damage that an upgrade alone can do.
The cost of upgrading a weapon is based on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For example, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while the +3 model requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue rise until it requires a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which the number will be reset to one.
Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. While this is generally a good thing however, it could have negative consequences too. In the case of items that are only used in a certain build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example) upgrading them can render them useless unless you get a fortunate roll.
Upgrades can be made to armor items to boost their performance. For instance, if you have chests or helms, this will increase the defense of its base, while gloves and belts will improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor also offers an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense%, meaning that it could roll back to a lower number.
The upgrade template for a weapon will display the new stats that it will get when upgraded in addition to their relative values. This means that a change from an 8 attack-damage sword to an 11 attack-damage sword will result in a weapon gaining 3% of attack damage. The 3% difference does not mean that the weapon will be hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.
A weapon can also be rerolled by pressing the green button that has circling arrows in the item menu. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats, but it will not reset the weapon's levels or bind it to account status.
Armor
A few armor upgrades can make the world of difference to your survival. Certain sets provide massive increases in poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, which makes traversing tough areas a breeze. The more defense your character has the more value you will get out of each point of health and it's crucial to upgrade your armor as often as you can.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four fountains in all and each one requires you to complete a special side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the main quest and the associated fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.
The amount of materials required to upgrade each piece of armor will differ. In general, you're looking at anything from three to ten Red Chuchu Jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, and then anywhere from five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent upgrade. For instance the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, which allows you to keep pace with a large group of adversaries in most cold environments, and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded up to +20 defense, granting you enough protection to withstand the full-on assault with a handful of friends.
It's important to note that armor cannot be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll want to work on upgrading it for physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power when you're Mage. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades for armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you'll wear to fight the final boss, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
You can also unlock some benefits to your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. You'll generally want to save these upgrades to the weapon you'll use to beat the game. For example the Longsword or Battleaxe. However, it's beneficial to have some upgrades for the helmets and chest armor to allow you to sneak around some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by a player, provide a temporary effect for a short period of time. There are five different types of potions, each having particular effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded, increasing the effectiveness of their effects. You can also increase the effects of certain potions by adding glowstone dust and redstone.
Potion upgrades cost a specific amount of XP. These can be earned by crafting them on a crafting table or in an chest of the Alchemist. However, the upgrade price will vary based on the type of potion you want to upgrade, and also on the item's Mark Level as well as its rarity.
To upgrade a potion, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open a GUI that allows you to select the potion you wish to upgrade, and the amount of experience they'll provide when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches of up to five at once, and their XP will be added to the total amount of XP you have.
When a poton is upgraded in quality, it will not deteriorate until you take it out again or break the bottle in which it is stored. You can also change the name of the potion by clicking on it in your inventory.
There were some changes to potion mechanics in version 1.7.2. For example splash potions now have a duration of zero,08 seconds (this is not the equivalent of 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the hover display for the item). The table of potion constructed from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be utilized by players in Survival and Bedrock. In contrast to the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions can't be mixed in cauldrons. The same applies to using a potion in a cauldron that is full. This will drain the potion and refill the bottle.
In addition, there are lingering potions, which are brewed with splash and dragon breath potions. In the same way, a lingering potion' effect is extended by adding redstone to it. The table of potions is laid out more in line with the Java Edition, and new potions were added such as the potion of leaping, the decomposition potion, and turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket is a tiny and cheap ornament or piece of jewelry. It could also be an object or ornament that serves a function but isn't important, like a trinket. In some traditions, trinkets are used to signify friendship or affection, especially between family members.
Players can upgrade trinkets as well as weapons and armor, as well as potions. Upgrades can be obtained by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Trinkets unlike other items that can be upgraded, can be swapped at will without losing statistics.
The upgrade vendors can be found in major cities and the capital of each zone, and in in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased with tokens, gold or fragments of trinkets that are rare.

Upgrading upgrade item is an economical alternative to buying a new one. It is possible to upgrade players for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same base level as the old trinket, however, it will also come with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
Trinkets can be upgraded when the old ones are not needed which allows a player to increase their power and worth over time. They can also be traded between players and are an attractive alternative to gold.
In general players should upgrade their highest priority items first. This usually means the best-in-slot items for their class, then their secondary items and finally, other gear items that they won't replace in the near future (for example, a ring or cloak). When choosing which items to upgrade, players should consider the class's preferred stats. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats to tank players, then they should upgrade their chest, helm and shoulders.
Trinkets can be upgraded to a higher level once they no longer have value, and the new trinket will receive an additional 1% upgrade bonus. However, a re-upgrade will destroy the old trinket, unless it is salvaged using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, however it is still cheaper than purchasing an entirely new trinket.
